This week, Home Secretary, Priti Patel visited Bedfordshire to support Festus Akinbusoye, the Conservative candidate for Police and Crime Commissioner in the elections on May 6th.
Speaking after the visit, Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire said:
I was delighted to welcome the Home Secretary to North East Bedfordshire. During her visit, Festus and I took the opportunity to push for increased funding for Bedfordshire Police to ensure greater support for the towns and villages that are too often overlooked due to the criminality prevalent in the larger conurbations.
We also congratulated the Home Secretary on her successes in recruiting more police officers both nationally and in Bedfordshire, her crackdown on County Lines drugs gangs and the stiffer sentences and greater protections afforded by the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.
