On Thursday, Richard had the opportunity to ask the Secretary of State for Health, Matt Hancock, about the deployment of vaccinations in care homes.
Raising his concerns about the vaccination rollout in care homes when there has been a positive outbreak of Covid, Richard asked Matt Hancock to confirm the policy when this happens.
The Secretary of State advised that even during an outbreak, a care home can continue to offer vaccinations but there has to be strict infection control in place. In other situations when the outbreak is severe, the vaccination rollout might have to be delayed. In any case, all decisions should be based on the local clinical advice of the GPs who are the lead in the vaccination rollout.
The question and answer can be heard here.
Richard also welcomes the opening of the Weatherley Centre - a new vaccination centre in Biggleswade.
Commenting, Richard said: "I am very pleased that a new vaccination centre has opened at the Weatherley Centre in Biggleswade. This new centre, which is pharmacy-led, fills a gap in vaccination delivery across Bedfordshire."
