Each summer, I offer a one-day work experience placement in Parliament for students who live or study in my constituency. This “Taste of Westminster” day is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain first-hand insight into the workings of Parliament and the role of an MP.
The one day placement includes a full day of activities in Westminster. During the day, participants will:
- Take part in a guided tour of Parliament, exploring its historic chambers and corridors.
- Join talks and Q&A sessions with me and shadow ministers, where we’ll discuss the responsibilities of MPs, the workings of government and opposition, and answer any questions you may have.
- Watch the Speaker’s Procession and observe Parliament in session from the public gallery – a unique chance to see democracy in action.
This is a brilliant way to learn more about politics, public service, and the day-to-day life of an MP. If you're a student living or studying in the constituency and would like to take part, please get in touch via [email protected]
